"Snow & Rain b/w Untethered" Is Out Now!

I just released a new 7" single, “Snow & Rain b/w Untethered”. The two songs are about love, loss, grief and uncertainty. I lost my wife Febra in 2024 and these songs are about that journey from then to now. An old bandmate of mine once said I write the catchiest sad songs. Sometimes sadness leads to creativity and catharsis. Some listeners may hear them as pop songs, but other listeners may find comfort in them to help with their own difficult paths. If so, that’s a bonus that Feb and I are glad to offer. The “Snow & Rain b/w Untethered” 7" is available in two different sleeve variations via the SLN Web Store, SLN Bandcamp and my own Bandcamp. I'm closing out Snappy Little Numbers' year with a brand new lo-fi mini-extended player, "The Granite City / Advice Fight / ACH: Bird Of The Week". Hey it's me, the "Punk Rock Jingle Machine"! My brand-new anthology is out today! I'm Still Around!

I'm back (kind of) with a brand-new anthology called "Singles & Jingles 2016-2021"! It's what you think it is; a literal collection of singles and jingles from me, the Punk Rock Jingle Machine. All tracks have been remastered for maximum jangle. "Singles & Jingles 2016-2021" will be released on cassette and digital April 8. Pre-orders are live right now on my BANDCAMP. It's also available in both the WEB STORE and on the BANDCAMP of the mega-record-conglomerate, Snappy Little Numbers Quality Audio Recordings. Here Are Two Cool Things From 2021!

Well hello there!  I just realized I didn't post a thing in 2021.  Things were quiet on the solo front I guess!  That's ok though, cuz things were busy on the Snappy Little Numbers Quality Audio Recordings and SPELLS fronts, respectively. I don't think anyone needs me to go into great detail, but there are two cool things I thought I'd share here.  First thing to mention is the fact that last year was the 10th year of Snappy Little Numbers Quality Audio Recordings.  The occasion was commemorated with the SLN-210: 10 Year Anniversary Compilation, which featured 30 SLN acts delivering a bunch of comp-exclusive tracks (a Charlie Continental track was among them).  Check it out HERE.  Pretty cool!  Second thing to mention is that SPELLS was the subject of SLN's 100th release.  Yep, 10 years and 100 releases at the same time.  SLN-200 (we started with SLN-101 after all) was the SPELLS "FANGIRL" Zine + Flexi Disc 7" Combo.  Take a look HERE for that.  It was issue #1 of FANGIRL, a new zine dedicated to deep dives on Colorado bands.  Also pretty cool!  Lots of other stuff happened last year and lots of stuff has happened and will happen this year.  Will any of it be Charlie Continental solo material?  I dunno!  Probably?!  If you think that sounds good, I thank you kindly!

 

The "Be Much Better" Flexi Disc Is Out Now!

After a nicely received early digital launch, me and my pals' new Flexi Disc 7", "Be Much Better (feat. Daryl Wilson, Ella Sugar and The Calgary Family Singers)", is out now!  By now you've likely heard how this song came together and all the buddies that helped it become what it is.  'Be Much Better' is a slice of ska that still has the punk and pop pep that you've come to know and adore (tolerate?!) from a tune that I wrote. The flexi disc is a clear square 7" with a double-sided cover insert and a download code is still included, just in case you missed the digital/donation release on my BANDCAMP.  You can order a copy of the flexi disc from the Snappy Little Numbers Quality Audio Recordings WEB STORE.  100% of every purchase/donation (both flexi and digital) will be donated to Black Lives Matter 5280, Black Lives Matter Chicago and Black Trans Femmes In The Arts. Howdy out there internetters!  I have a new release called "Be Much Better", once again on Snappy Little Numbers Quality Audio Recordings. A 7" Flexi Disc will be released on 12/11/20 and pre-orders for those are up in their WEB STORE. The Digital version is already available right now! This time out, I delivered a ska song with some extra vocal help from my buddies Daryl Wilson (The Bollweevils), Ella Sugar (my SPELLS bandmate) and The Calgary Family Singers (Jennifer is a longtime collaborator).  During the troubles of this past year, 'Be Much Better' is basically how I channeled some frustrations about world events into a short little song. V/A "Charlie Continental's Community Tune Garden, Version 1.1" (SLN-191.1/HDBC-008) is out now! It's the second compilation featuring original songs recorded for a song-sharing project that I initiated based off of an idea by my bud Rob Burleson. Round 2 of the results have come in and the EP is comprised of excellent submissions from Joaquin Liebert (The Redemptions, The Risk, The Reckless Nights), Mortality (aka Jonathon- The Misfires, Signal To Trust) plus an alternate version of my tune from the first comp.  The songs are neatly packaged as the second and final installment of the Snappy Little Numbers 2020 Hand Dubbed Buddies Club: ultra limited cassettes, hand dubbed, hand numbered and personalized. This year SLN changed things up by only producing HDBC cassettes for a short period, with a production duration ending one month after the initial release date. Consumers can choose either Gold or Gray tapes, no subscription required and either color will be numbered and personalized in green. "We're Getting Fixed (The Grawlix Save The World) Original & Remix" Flexi Disc Is Out Now!

My tune 'We're Getting Fixed (The Grawlix Save The World) [Original]' is the theme song to the podcast The Grawlix Saves The World.  My pal Heaty Beat was up for another collab and delivered 'We're Getting Fixed (The Grawlix Save The World) [Remix] which is just that, a remix of the original song as performed and recorded by the sensational Ohio rapper.  As you might recall, Heaty Beat previously remixed my tune 'Quit Wastin' My Time', the theme song to the truTV show Those Who Can't.  We decided to put the Original

"Staycation: The Early SPELLS Demos" Is Out Now!

I have a new release out today on cassette/digital called "Staycation: The Early SPELLS Demos"!  The cassette is part of the Snappy Little Numbers Quality Audio Recordings Hand Dubbed Buddies Club.  It's the 5th cassette of the 2019 HDBC and you can learn more about it, join the club (gold cassettes) or order individually (gray cassettes) HERE.  All cassettes come with download links.  It's also available digitally on my bandcamp HERE as well as all the other usual digital/streaming sites.  I wrote and recorded the songs on "Staycation: The Early SPELLS Demos" in 2012, prior to the formation of SPELLS.  They became the first 3 songs SPELLS learned and updated (plus Staycation became Left Behind).  The SPELLS versions sound like a real gosh darned band.  These versions sound like some dude screwing around.  Both assessments are accurate, for better and for not-as-better-but-still-fun.  These songs became SPELLS songs and are still played because of my very talented and patient friends: Rob, Ben, Don and Lauren.  I thought it would be cool to put out the raw beginnings of a band I've had the time of my life with.  Thanks for checking it out!

Hi! I Guess It's 3 Years Later!

Wow!  I kinda forgot to keep up with this blog.  Well, here's an abbreviated version of what's happened to me in the last 3 years: SPELLS made lots of records, a couple videos, did a few tours and played lots of shows.  Bad Year, Dust Heart and Sophisticated Boom Boom also made some records and played some shows.  I became an econo-type record producer.  Those Who Can't aired it's 2nd and 3rd seasons.  Nothin' But Time, the B side to Quit Wastin' My Time, became the theme song for a Portland, OR based independent whiskey home-distillery company called (fittingly) Whiskey Lab.  I partnered with a friend to launch Indie Rock Daydream, a screenprinting-apparel-merchandise company.   Snappy Little Numbers Quality Audio Recordings put out tons of releases, Snappy Little Numbers Entertainment DJ'd a bunch of events and Snappy Little Archives got off the ground.  There!  That's basically it, aside from my personal life (which is pretty good).  More stuff is coming very soon (there's a big hint in the site header picture)!  Thanks for visiting!
